Tuesday, November 5 is the Nassau County 2019 elections day. A general election is held on the 1st Tuesday after the first Monday in the month of November. The term “general election” is used principally to distinguish that election from ‘primary elections’ or ‘special elections.’ Gov. Cuomo in January 2019 signed a bill that requires each county to have at least one early voting poll site for the general election per 50,000 registered voters until it has seven of the sites. The law does not require more, even in a highly populated county like Nassau — but, the county Board of Elections announced in June that the county would get 15 early voting sites.
